Faldon Gaming

Introduction

Faldon Village is a well established hub for various parlor games of skill or luck. Historically, Faldon is the originator of some of the City's most popular card games, such as Scaraby. Gaming hustlers or residents looking to pass the time dot the village, and this Gaming guide will cover:

  • Drunken Submin Game
  • Memory
  • Scaraby
  • The Number Brothers

Gaming in Faldon Village is conducted through Scarabead gambling. Scarabeads are the local currency of the Faldon Desert, and are used for most exchanges in the area. Prospective players in Faldon should seek out work, as running errands for the locals may yield Scarabead rewards.

Transportation

Faldon Village is quickly accessible through the following means of transportation:

  • Teleport Circle

The SW City Department of Tourism has established a Teleport Circle at Town Square Park that can be used to directly teleport to Faldon Village. The circle is in the northwestern area of Town Square Park, just beyond Flint.

  • SW City Subway

Faldon Village is the first stop on the SW City Subway's "Estate Loop" from Town Square Park. Subway access is available from Grand Central Station, which can be found in the far northeastern reaches of Town Square Park. It is a large, glass building.

Drunken Submin Game

Location: Scarab Lounge Inn
Vendor: Barman Ced
Wager: 5 Scarabeads

The Barperson's Association of SW City is offering a special badge and Scarabead rewards to any brave enough to participate in the Drinking Challenge.

The player will be served four drinks by the bartender, which each have a different alcoholic potency: anywhere from 10 to 50 alcohol units. You, the player, have an alcohol tolerance of "100," and will win the game so long as you do not exceed that.

During the course of the game, the player will be allowed to smell the drink. Based on the description of the smell, the player can choose to drink it or ask for another drink. The player is allowed to swap out drinks twice per game.

If the player's alcohol tolerance is not exceeded, they will win 15 Scarabeads. If it is their first time playing, they will win a White Beverage Badge, which will increase their alcohol tolerance to "110."

Good luck!

Memory

Location: Scarab Lounge Inn
Vendor: Memory Card Hustler
Wager: 1-15 Scarabeads

Memory is a game of skill that requires the player to unveil matching sets of cards in a given time limit. Memory has three levels of difficulty that are determined by the player's wager.

  • Low Wager: 1-5 Scarabeads

A Low Wager is the easy setting of Memory, and is recommended for beginners. Players who bet a wager of 1 to 5 Scarabeads will be given 17 turns and 60 seconds to match five sets of cards.

  • Medium Wager: 6-10 Scarabeads

A Medium Wager is the intermediate setting of Memory, and is recommended if you are comfortable with the game. Players who bet a wager of 6 to 10 Scarabeads will be given 15 turns and 55 seconds to match six sets of cards.

  • High Wager: 6-10 Scarabeads

A High Wager is the hard setting of Memory, and is recommended if you are looking for a challenge. Players who bet a wager of 11 to 15 Scarabeads will be given 13 turns and 45 seconds to match seven sets of cards.

Scaraby

Location: Market District (Outside of Faldon Book Shack)
Vendor: Scaraby Card Hustler
Wager: 1-20 Scarabeads

Scaraby is a traditional card game and is the most popular of its kind in SW City. The Faldon Scaraby Vendor plays a simple game of Scaraby that is native to the Faldon Desert. The simple rules provide for quick, high-stakes gaming that Faldon natives are accustomed to. Historically such games were often used in resolution dispute, particularly amongst desert bandits.

Scaraby is a very simple game. The dealer has a deck of Scaraby Cards that have values between "1" and "5." The goal of the game is to draw cards until you have a sum total of 10, without going over. If you go over, you "bust" and automatically lose. If you do not have a sum value of 10 but do not want to risk drawing again, you can opt to "stand."

Hint: It is generally a good idea to stand if your sum value is 8 or 9!

The Number Brothers

Location: NW Residential District
Vendor: Number Brothers
Wager: 1-5 Scarabeads

The Number Brothers are two youthful Nimbusians that provide an exciting game of guess-and-check to any passerbyer that gives them the time of day. The brothers provide a low stakes, yet challenging game for any who seek them out. The Number Brothers are found in the northwestern part of Faldon Village, standing outside beside the road.

The rules of the game are fairly-straightforward. One of the Number Brothers will be judging while you and the other brother will play against each other to guess a number between "1" and "50." After you both guess, the judge will tell you if both guesses were higher than, equal to, or lower than the correct number. If you do not guess the correct number within four turns, the brothers will win by default.

Hint: Try using wide ranges of numbers to single out likely numbers quicker! For example, guessing "22, 23, 24, 25" would tell you nothing about the other numbers left to choose!
