Kithicor Pine

Overview

The Kithicor Pine is the most common tall tree found on SW Island and is highly populated in the Kithicor Forest. It's favorable among treeing companies for its high-quality lumber, fast growth and low maintenance.

Characteristics

It is a tall-size tree, reaching around 47 m tall with a trunk diameter of up to 1 m. The bark is dark brown, thick and rough at the base of the trunk. The leaves ('needles') are in fascicles of five, stout, 2.5-4 cm long, deep green to dark green on the outer face. The leaves show the longest persistence of any plant in SW City, with some remaining green for over 100 years.

The tree grows in almost any climate or environment with a moderate amount of precipitation. That includes mountain faces (Citrus Mountains) and rocky terrain. It has been commonly known that a sapling of a Kithicor Pine can sprout underneath a hard rock on the ground and eventually grow up through it, effectively splitting the whole rock in half to continue growing.
