James River River

Overview

The James River is high volume, high velocity river that flows from the large watershed known as Citrus Lake and runs through James River, through the Whistling Plains, through Scoperta Forest and terminates in the Irenic Ocean.

There are two flow routes for the river, one flowing underground and exiting on the western face of the Citrus Mountains and one on the north face flowing underground into a cave and free-falling to create the James River Falls. The western branch is a popular rafting route which runs directly through the heart of the James River rural housing area and past most of its important buildings, creating a hotspot for tourism.
