HGF-M3 Scarab
OverviewThe HGF-M3 (Heavy Ground Fighter M3) Scarab is the heavy battle tank of the Swarmy. Designed to overwhelm enemies with its firepower, the Scarab sports both a pair of railguns and laser-guided missiles. The railgun used for this tank is designed by MadCorp and uses strong electromagnets to accelerate a 150mm kinetic projectile down the length of the barrel. Using technology derived from the hovercraft industry, engineers added a small energy collector to each railgun's exterior to reduce the power load on the tank's main electrical system. The barrel is also stabilized and features recoil-control systems to keep the guns properly aimed and ready for the next round. The LAM-2 ground attack missiles are stored in launchers on each side of the tank's main body. These are laser-guided missiles which find thier targets from the laser designator used by the tank's commander. The missiles are somewhat manuverable, but due to the launchers being on the tank's body, they are most useful if the tank itself is facing the target. |
